10 places you must visit in HongKong

Hello.

To read about my live recounts on Hongkong while in Hongkong, you can refer to my dayre

I've personally been to HongKong thrice in my life already. The first time was with my Godmum, second time was with the organization and the third was January just last month with my whole family of 5. It's their first trip to Hong Kong, the third trip that I sponsored my family on. :D

1. Intercontinental Hotel

If you are thinking of booking a hotel to stay in Hongkong, think no other.
Intercontinental hotel faces the beautiful skyline of Hongkong located just beside the Victoria Harbour. You get the COMPLETE VIEW! Not to mention, the buffet spread at Harbour Side restaurant, sitting right inside the hotel, was one of the best (and most expensive) that you will never find elsewhere. So if you have someone you appreciate or a great client, go for it!
It's just $170 SGD per pax. :x

No. 18 Salisbury Rd,
Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, China

2. Citygate outlet mall

I've been to Hongkong thrice and I've never missed this outlet mall. You will find all the middle to high end brands varying from sportswear to luxury fashion. Honestly, I only bought from Swarovski though. Here's the directory

3. Ngong Ping Cable car and Village

Ngong Ping cable car is the fastest mode of transport to the Big Buddha in Hongkong as it takes only about 25 minutes. Alternatively, you can either take bus 23 from Tung Chung Station or Bus 2 from Ngong Ping Village. My family and I picked the crystal cable car and we got to enjoy a 360degree beauty of the sea and mountains while on the way to meet the Big Buddha. There was a Hello Kitty fair that day we went. That's on the first week of January. Of course, that was to my greatest happiness being a HK fan all my life. :)

Here's the round trip ticketing prices for adults:
Standard cable car - HKD$255 (About SGD$40)
Crystal cable car - HKD$325 (About SGD$60)

4. Big Buddha

If you can, allow your sincerity and willpower to bring you up the 286 steps up the stairs to meet the famous Hongkong big buddha personally. I believe having put in all those energy, your prayers will be answered. :) The weather up there is pretty cooling. There are also a number of very tame dogs residing at the circumference of the big buddha. Don't forget to try their sesame tau huey if you don't mind the slightly steeper price. Well, ultimately it's the experience being a tourist there. :)

Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, Outlying islands

4. Tim Ho Wan

Remember the long queues in Singapore you see outside Tim Ho Wan?
HongKong is in fact the land that Tim Ho Wan originates! :) I love the Char Shao Bao best! What about you? In my opinion, the authentic THW at Hongkong wins Singapore's version hands down. But thank god they have franchises here! :)

Based on research. there are 5 branches in Hongkong. We headed to the Olympian City one as it's the closest to our hotel.

6. Australia Dairy Company

If you are an early and go to the Australia Dairy Co restaurant early enough before 11am, you get to miss the queue! Otherwise, expect to queue for about 20-30min before you are hastily ushered to a small table with your guests.

The most popular all day breakfast set which consists of macaroni soup with ham and scrambled eggs with toasts made the top choice among us as well. I love the creamy scrambled eggs the most! The macaroni soup base is also very rich and savory. Best part of the restaurant is that once you get ushered into the restaurant, your food is served very fast, still hot. The operations of the business has come to a point of unconscious competence alr. Thumbs up. There have been many compliments on the original taste that their iced milk tea has. Fans of milk must try their super duper fresh milk they sell. Sweet tooth must try their milkcurd dessert, served warm but satisfy your craving for sweets.

7. 大师傅粥品
Da Shi Fu Congee Restaurant

Congee - one of Hong Kong's signature must-try. We are pretty lucky that we did not have to walk too far off from our hotel to try this Da Shi Fu Congee house. Along Ivy St, you will be able to spot the soy milk dispenser and the neatly stacked awesome stuff called the you tiao. We went there in a group of 10 and each of us ordered 1 bowl of porridge per person. It's totally over ordering. 1 plate of you tiao per table of 4 is grossly under ordering though because they have a best fried you tiao! Together with the silky soy milk and the delicious soft porridge, it makes a perfect breakfast for anyone. :)

Ivy Street, Tai Kwok Tsui, Hong Kong

8. Yung Kee Roast Goose Restaurant

The highly raved Yung Kee Restaurant that my clients had been telling about non stop.
It was my 2nd visit there and omg it still has the best century egg (!!!!), juiciest roast goose and my personal favourite is the cha shao. Ooh super crispy!

I love all kinds of egg porn. We've all tried poached eggs at brunch places, traditional soft boiled eggs at coffee shops, Japanese Soy Sauce eggs, but I've never tried the soft yolk century eggs before. It's really super yummy! If you go there, remember to tapao some soft boiled century eggs back for me ok!

I can't wait to return to Hong Kong again to try all the other best roasted goose restaurants! :)

32-40 Wellington Street
Yung Kee building
Opening hours: 11am to 11.30pm

9. 许留山 Hui Lau Shan

Usually desserts are sinful, but if you pair up fruits and sweets, it's not that bad right.
Hui Lau Shan is one of the common healthy desserts stalls around Hong Kong.
They serve mainly mango desserts of different forms, like ice blended drinks and puddings.
To spice up their menu, you can also find a mixture of durian fillings, kiwi toppings or coconut syrup in different dishes. It's common, but if you stay in Hongkong, it's a good place to chill with your friends at least twice a week. :)

Opening hours: 12pm till midnight/1am

10. Jenny cookies

"We're not trying to be cool but store may close earlier if goods are sold out."

I love how Jenny Bakery knows where she stands in the cookies market.
Which place would sell a box of cookies close to SGD$50?
The packaging is pretty appealing, but it's definitely not the reason for its steep price.
It's absolutely the quality of the cookies that keeps the queuing ceaseless.
The memories of its fluffy texture and gentle sweetness still lingers in my mind till now.
It's so good that when i bought boxes of it back for my family members and friends, they finished those boxes up in no time. Glad it landed in Singapore! :)

Oh, I just remember to warn you guys.
Be prepared to take the cocky service from their staff.
I have no idea why after all these years of negative feedback on quality of staff in Hongkong, Jenny bakery did not do much about this problem.

54-64 Nathan Road
Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon

Hong Kong has been a pretty Singaporean friendly country based on my few visits there so far.
Service is generally polite and helpful. Taking taxi there is almost as expensive as Singapore. Their hotels provides free router and handphone for tourists' convenience. It's a really beautiful city with many photo spots and eateries. Shopping is a tad expensive when it comes to luxury goods.

Hong Kong definitely has more than 10 places to visit, but I've yet to explore the entire Hong Kong in the short span of 4 days 3 nights.

Other must-visit places for my future trips to Hong Kong:
Victoria peak
Xing Guang Da Dao
Bake Cheese tart
Night Markets
Lan Kwai Fong
