Nuffnang Genting Trip (Part 1) - Food only

Sponsored

Hey guys!
As promised, here's the post on the Nuffnang-sponsored Genting Foodie trip!
Once again, I am so thankful to be one of the fortunate (and amateur) bloggers
to be shortlisted for this Genting trip.
Too many awesome food pics will be unraveling before your eyes as this long-ass post proceeds.
I've decided to split my recount for this Genting trip into 2:
1 foodie post and
1 fun activities + camwhore post (to be accompanied with new cover)
So apologies to friends who like to watch me camwhore, you won't be seeing THAT much of my face here. :p
Ok joking, but i know you won't get sick of me. Hoho. :p

Do read slowly and leisurely &
make sure you ENJOY AND SALIVATE over the foodie pics yo~

(Inserted after I finished the entry)
Psst:
I have a total of 9 foodie stations, so please be mentally prepared.
DO NOT READ WITH AN EMPTY STOMACH.
I learnt my lesson while doing this blog post, starving... :s

DAY 1.

Food station #1: Yong Peng
for toilet break and brekkie!
(Ok this one not sponsored :p)

Ramly burger for the bee and...

Soya bean milk & egg and cheese sandwich for me
cos I refused to take a heavy brekkie just in case i puke on the swiveling ride up to Genting.

I'm a happy fatface! ;D

Food station #2: Only Mee and Friends
First World Plaza, Level T2, Genting Highlands

Number plates for our orders. Must bai swee swee one.
To say cheeze. :D Hehe.

Tom Kha Gai
According to Leo and to our disappointment, it tastes more like Tom Yam, the extra spicy version. Sobs.

My Ipoh Hor Fun with shredded chicken
You can tell that they're quite giam siap with the portion even though it's not THAT cheap.
More like white kway tiao served with plain water and a few drops of oil.
Ok stop ranting. Left the best for the last. :B

:)

My oh-so-awesome-and-wonderful kakis for the trip.
Quite awkward at first. See Quinie act yi ge cool. LOL.
Amanda, on the right, being camera-ready!

Food station #3: Baskin Robbins
for dessert after lunchie.

So-so only. Forgot the flavours.

Food station #4: Chatime
for bubble teaaaaa!
That's the only bbt shop they have over at Genting, so unlike Sg.
We can easily spam 5-6 bbt shops just in Clementi, -.-
Tried the Roasted milk tea with herbal jelly.
Not bad, quite sweet and addictive. Hehe.

Random food station: Baked sweet potato stall located just outside the outdoors themepark.
WAR TIME FOOD!
Didn't try any cos was saving my tummy for better tummy-expanding dinner food.

Food station #5: Genting Palace Restaurant
for day 1 dinz! (Fully sponsored meal)
Best makan place in Genting. Super likes!!!

eh! 对面的男孩看过来~ 看过来~ 看过来~

AISEHHHHHHHH~~~ :3

Alrights, since I'm lazy to type out the names, here's the menu! ;D
You may have fun mixing and matching the names and the dishes...
I can't read some chinese characters. so yup. good luck guys. ;)

Obligatory peer-pressured common activity. (cos i'm not a food blogger)

Couldn't believe how yummy it was.
SOTONG BALL WITH CHEESE FILLING.
Can die(t) without regrets already. Hehe.

This dish has a looooong name but in short,
Herbal chicken soup

Spices baked chicken with crusty skin.
The mixture of different spices made such an ordinary chicken taste overwhelmingly awesome.

Chicken skin is bad for health. Eh wait.
NUUUUUU Nobody can resist this.
My favourite dish of the night, other than dessert. Keke.

Red Snapper fish dish aka Leonard's favourite

 HUGEASS Sweet chili prawns #backtobasicnamesftw

O.O Baby abalones! Pretty combo~

Yam rice

Sea cucumber super soft and smooth until can slide down your throat! :3

Philip and Zyon's side was the dirtiest! #barbariansO.O

Dessert 1 - Ching teng

Dessert 2 - Snow skin mochi ball stuffed with mango and whipped cream
#reallycandiewithnoregrets
IT REALLY MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH. SECRET RECIPE!

Camwhore time~

Girls bring the boys out........

Nah give you all the guys, namely
xiaotong, tissueman, ipman, baby :B

Glib-tonged Chef Jacky, DA MAN behind all these mouth-watering dishes.

He's actually super friendly in person and even didn't mind taking Philip (one of our Genting kakis) as his disciple. O.O (Y)

FULL HOUSE GROUP PHOTO with the kakis.
Guess which idiot Philip is. :p
(Ok mai siao siao, he got 6-packs.
Eh Phil, help you promote to xmm here alr. Say thank you!)

With Jas jiejie~ Super sweet friend! <3

Random food station: fried durian at First World Plaza.
The fried durians are pre-fried, so the crust already turned soggy.
But the stallholder helped us heat it up, so end up tasted quite decent.

Now.....

Presenting you........

DAY 2.

#Sleepystillcancamwhore

Food station #6: Resort Cafe
For another overwhelming brunch buffet! O.O
They combined the Asian buffet spread of Resort Cafe and Restaurant Kampong
and the total cost would only be 40++RM. It's relatively pocket friendly for a buffet.
On that day, we chose to take a smaller portion also cos we were heading to the themepark after that. :D

Expect a great deal of dessert pics cos I'm in love with loud and bright colourful pictures. ;D

So cool, they even have an ice slicer machine for the DIY ice kachang station.

No idea why their signature dish looks like a buncha charcoal. West Asian food.

Laksa ingredient spread.

So, I tried the hainan chicken rice and took some fried linguine to try. A lil dry.
Restaurant Kampong's warm milk tea is super savoury, not too sweet and served optimally warm.

Leo's dish

Chop chop skipped to dessert and i helped myself with the Nyonya finger food.
Mad love the variety of pandan desserts~ :D

Sinful pandan mousse~

Food station #7: Coffee Terrace
Dinner on the second day just before we headed to Khalil Fong's live concert at Arena of Stars!
I must admit that when I saw this restaurant name,
i wasn't really impressed cos I thought it was merely a cafe-like cosy restaurant.
Partly, it's cos I didn't do my research before the trip also. :p

But OMG, they've got a total of 7 stations:
Local delights
Nyonya
Chinese
Western
Japanese
West Asian
Dessert

You can probably tell from my spamming of Jap food that I love sashimi! <3
Actually, due to the bulk serving of Sashimi at the Jap station,
their salmon didn't taste very fresh and was already not cold anymore
after we queued and brought the food back to our table.
Nonetheless, I still had like 3 servings of sashimi! *beams*

Satay was good~

Was too full to finish the local delight, the curry chicken.
Curry gravy wasn't too milky and is just nice if you can't take spicy food like me.

Don't know if these cooked chicken are just for decoration. :/

Braised chicken feet! We only took the ru dan! ;D

I wish i had more time to eat then, to enjoy every single dessert at the dessert bar!
All look so chio one!

Chocolate mousse with coconut base! Love this dessert da most!

DAY 3.

Food station #8: Genting Palace
again again! ;D
It was the first time that Genting palace served dimsum brekkie on their menu.
How honoured to be the first few to enjoy such high quality dimsum  for freeeee~
Did you know: u.p. 600RM nett O.O
For those who didn't follow me on twitter, I tweeted with horror immediately upon knowing that
I was about to sit in for a 14-course breakfast first time in my life.
It turned out to be a brunch for most of us due to the sheer amount of food.

Many thanks to Chef Yen for the emperor-style dimsum brekkie! ^.^

Century Egg Porridge

Steamed Golden San Pau!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is DA BEST LIU SHA PAU I WAS RAVING ABOUT ON TWITTER!!!

The egg lava within is neither too hard nor watery, and with the optimal saltiness and texture,
you really can't afford to miss this dish if you head over to Genting!!

Many food bloggers were exclaiming about how especially good this liu sha pau tastes
and Brad (Ladyironchef) even took 2 for himself while the rest only had 1 each.
What a glutton. :p

Steamed Loh Mai Kai

Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce

Cheong Fun with crispy You Char kway

Deep-fried Yam Puff (Wu Kok)

I love the Steamed Char Siew Pau too!
If I had to choose some dishes to miss outta the 14 dishes, usually I'd choose the one with most carbo,
and Paus would be one of the few.
But, thankfully, I got pretty curious about the taste of its filling as
Chef Yen tactfully left some openings in the pau to reveal the yummy-looking char siew inside.

It wasn't too meaty and hard, but had some semi-molten gravy accompanying the meat.
The flavour of the char siew wasn't too salty, and even has a small pinch of sweetness in it. Super like! :D
Steamed Bean Curd Skin Roll

Steamed prawn and siew mai dumplings!

Assorted Dry Noodle

Baked Egg tart!

They say it's better than KFC's!
The egg tart actually has 2 layers of egg pudding,
the lower base was flowy and softer than the upper layer which appears to be brighter in yellow
which totally made the egg tarts more appetising.

Fried Carrot cake
They come in cubes! So cute, unlike Sg's chap pa lang style. Hehe.
Taste rich and comparatively less oily. :):)

Okay i shunned the Stir-fried seasonal vege. :x

Dessert: Chilled Sweetened Sea Coconut with Aloe Vera!
As it was the last dish served, some of the bloated bloggers didn't bother finishing it,
but I finished 1.5 bowls of it despite the pumped up tummy cos I;ve got a sweet tooth. :p
I drink Koi, Gongcha, Eskimo, soya bean with 100% sweetness one k.

The organizers and our tour guides, Brad and unglam Casey. :p

Chef Yen and I!

Last day at Genting = camwhore time.
Queeen da jie and i.

Group table photo!

The organizers of the trip were so kind to get us free gifts to bring home when we're already on a sponsored free trip! They gave each person 2 RWG Red bean mooncakes exclusively made by Genting Palace restaurant.
It was so palatable that my family members shared them and finished them within a week.
Thanks again Nuffnang and RWG!

Bought some goodies home for my family members and they loved the food yo! <3

Food station #9: Yong Peng
Back at square one for dinz.

MY TURN FOR RAMLY!

Better than Sg pasamalam's cos the egg is more flowy. :p

OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M ONLY DONE WITH 1 OUTTA 2 POSTS FOR GENTING!
Stay tuned for the "Genting activities" blog post coming up next okai! <3

And if you haven't seen my latest cover, here you go! :p

California king bed by Rihanna (Ziwei's cover)

Hope you have a better idea of where to makan when you head to Genting for some Casino action soon! ;D

Ziwei
