Hey look at what I've got.
Media preview pass for Spooktacular 2012 with a complimentary drink!
THANK YOU OMY.SG AND SENTOSA FOR SPONSORING THE MEDIA PASS! <3
I was pretty unprepared for the spooky night at Spooktacular as all I wanted to do was to test my guts.
No expectation, no premonition of how the horror trails were gonna turn out.
READ TILL THE END FOR TICKETING FAQ!
This year, 4 iconic ghouls of Asian folklore are newly crowned as the ambassadors for Sentosa Marquee Halloween event. Watch their self introductory youtube profiles at:
1. Jiang shi
2. Dead soldier
3. Pontianak
4. Dead chinese bride
NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED!
Preview: The make up is freaking professional AND the acting is hilarious! Lol.
With the addition of these supernatural entities, Sentosa Spooktacular aims to bring to life the Asian folklore which we grew up in.
The concept of "recruiting real ghosts" into Sentosa Spooktacular have created great awareness and generated some interesting publicity to reach out to the public to join this event at Sentosa. The abovementioned ghosts each have their own facebook profile page, as well as a combined activist group facebook page called "Ghost were people too". INTERESTING ISN'T IT? By combining the spooky ghastly make up and the friendly and practical fictional personalities of the ghost ambassadors, Spooktacular this year doesn't sound too scary for the easily-frightened and isn't too unattractive for the thrill-seekers too.

My plus1 was Leo, as expected.
I can't imagine bringing another female plus1 along instead cos I knew that i had to be the one hiding behind this time round. :/
We had been warned upon our first step into the tram station by the nasty-looking skull deco.
This year's Spooktacular at Sentosa consist of 5 haunted trails:
(From the least scary to the scariest based on Leo and my subjectivity)
Camp Berhantu
The land of lost souls
The last sequel
Deadly doll studio
Ouija board
Fooling around so as to relieve the tensed and frightening atmosphere.
First ghost we met!
Joking, it's actually one of the bloggers who was really sporting!
Even though she was late, I look up to her for her fore-plan to scare the shit out of the "ghosts" in the trails before they had the chance to scare her. Neatly dotted face with matching blazer. Uh huh. BAM!
A "Ghost rider" bus was chartered specially to transport the scare victims from Beach station to Fort Siloso.
The entrance of Fort Siloso was veiled with long fringes of black clothes and as the heart-throbbing sound effects play at the background, Leo and I got really hyped up about just chionging straight into the trails to say hi to all the 200 ghosts on the trails already!
Sentosa Spooktacular had been around for about 3 years and this is the first time it is held at Fort Siloso, which used to serve the Japanese as a Prisoners Of War Camp until the end of the war. Suspected rebels of the Japanese were ruthlessly murdered and tortured. This is the first time that the military museum is used for Sentosa Spooktacular and the first time that Fort Siloso is open at night as it usually closes at 6pm.
Fort Siloso is well known as a haunting ground for paranormal sightings, hence this distinctively sets Sentosa Spooktacular 2012 apart from other Halloween events this October!
Ghosts welcomed us at the entrance with their silence, sharp glares and eerie pace.
The entire walk-through was dimly lit with green lightings.
Apologies on the behalf of my camera flash for spoiling the effects.
YOU GOT TO HEAD DOWN TO SENTOSA TO EXPERIENCE IT YOURSELF!
Do you see it lingering somewhere?
This is an epic one - the Death tree.
Smoke machines don't just appear in clubs, now i know.
Was slightly confused when I saw some of these funny bones.
It was just a mocking sign to tell you that it was only the beginning.
Menacing but friendly madah (police in hokkien).
Got reminded of the saying "gu za ma da ceng de kor" :p
Everyone was listening to the instructions from the media organizer but
I couldn't help but notice it.
Win hands down. I cannot tank. Could you spot her from the pic above.
Unsuspecting home of the dead.
Promo video done by Omy.sg! I was interviewed for a few seconds after the 2nd trail walk.
Trail 1: Camp Berhantu
Cute guy in zombie make up.. :p
Cuter guy as my ghost buster. :p
The Camp Berhantu trail is an interactive one whereby some scare victims are entitled a laser tag gun for zombie-shooting activity! I gave it a miss while the playful one got 1 which he is posing pridefully with below.
Some pics of the freaky soldiers.
The entire maze within the trail was foggy, hence we were really wary of the corners to prepare our reactions at any upcoming "boo".
This one quite gross. :/
Kinda awkward...
Creepy mannequin that rocks back and front. :/
At the end of the first trail, i let down my guts and was totally enjoying the flashmob performance by the Asian horror figures.
Creepy phototaking spot. Mahjong san que yi!
Uh huh, the gambling queen takes up the challenge and guess my win?
大四喜! LOL.
Close-up on the table mates. O.O
Tamil dancing ghost with a lot jingle bells attached to his legs.
Trail 2: Land of lost souls
Welcomed by pretty Thai airlines stewardesses. Sawadee...
Pardon the dirty lens. This is the view from the Thai airlines walkthrough.
The first foggy stairways we encountered and a bunch of people were stuck at the top of this flight of stairs, waiting for the first brave soul to descend into the next horror ground.
Pale-faced Thai monk beggar sitting at the side of the narrow pathway.
Next up, Muay Thai fighters!
Couldn't really make out of this cobwebbed zone in the middle.
I'd assume that those Muay thai warriors killed this poor soul and are sacrificing him to some Thai God now.
Heading on to the next scare zone.
Says it all.
Thai club of the Trannies.
This part was humourous!! Fat guys scantily dressed as tranny hookers.
SEXY LADYBOYSS dancing and bouncing to the havoc Thai R&B music! A little gaga-inspired. LOL.
Literally hooking Leonard up and the boy totally couldn't resist the seduction that...
he's paying for some extra services. Ooooo~
I got to take photo with the purple haired one who asked for a kiss on his rotten face.
I ran off after the photo. :p
Arrived at the Thai restaurant owned by a thoroughly burnt Thai lady.
Raw brain drizzled with fresh blood for you?
The unwanted body remains as thrashed at one side.
Yummylicious aren't they? :O
Next stop: Polite Thai witch with her spells and love potions collected from the dead.
Selling cheap!
Sex change hospital.
Met some patients whose surgical procedures had failed.
Beware of this one, quite fierce.
Lipsuction until nothing left.
Spotted one of the ghost ambassadors! Guess who.
2 actually, Pontianak and myself! Rawr!
More camwhoring done after the end of trail 2.
I like this one! All so pretty! ^^
Took a break after the 2 trails to collect our complimentary drinks.
There's actually a common rest point for you to rest the heart.
Ghosts drifted around the relatively well-lit Japanese Army Canteen.
Met the another ghost ambassador this Spooktacular -
The Dead Japanese Soldier,
whom we became good friends with.
Trail 3: The Doll house
(If you follow the sequence, the last sequel trail should follow the land of lost souls, but the queue was too long, we skipped straight to the Doll House.)
You get goosebumps at the main door already.
Leo's exact words: "Wah, sian" upon the first sight of this scene.
Girls were caught and imprisoned in the doll house as the doll master turns them one by one into live sized dolls. :/
This poor girl so sad about being captured, and I was still smiling at the pop up ghosts behind her.
Spot the difference.
Sewing machines and threads for the dolls' fanciful costumes.
No really, final destination would portray these machines to operate on human flesh instead of clothes. :/
Cute doll plays S/M. That's a whip, mind you.
Beware of EVERY corner turn. :/
The siao ghost behind me was cheering and screaming, so I kept her company. LOL
Watch your steps.
Concept of missing kids posters sprawled all over the wall - definitely psychologically thrilling.
Scattered with Chrysanthemum flowers and the red praying plates.
This ghost received the most compliments on our way out. Pretty right?
Trail 4: Ouija Board
Leo and I agreed that this trail is the most frightening of all.
Fat aunty gives no mercy at scaring us with her clog while sitting at the entrance in the dark.
Not turning back, you. Walk straight, past them all.
The group of us got stuck at that point for a long time to ensure ourselves which ones are real.
This one is the real one. T.T
We were just complaining about wanting more scares with kick an these came up.
Dark alley with a ghost wall that compresses the already-narrow path. :/
Bloody tongue pulled out from a mannequin's mouth.
Luminously lid dark path with with an almost innocent leaves-sweeper. So not.
Siao zhar bor.
Beware of cacooned-up figures. :/
Another pikachu with jingle bells in her hands.
Spot this girl when you go there. Her appearance was really mindfucking.
Yay, survived through another scare zone.
At the human-slaughter house and the butcher says BOO!
Choppers, intestines, saws, ribcages, spanners, body parts.
And ending with this:
I've clearer pictures on my fb, you go figure this out first.
Love the babyblueness in her, though she's supposed a ghost.
Some anime ghost izit? Anybody know?
Some anime ghost izit? Anybody know?
So vain somemore like me. :p
Final trail: The Last Sequel
The story is about a writer whose novel came to life and eventually had his family members all murdered.
Most fogged up trail. :/
Hate it cos i couldn't see my way around.
Uh huh. Spook shit.
Alot of popped out eyeballs tmd.
Finally, after much struggling with trying to end this post asap, so that i can stop watching the endless photos of gore, some finale pictures!
The trails left a sweaty couple fighting for the fan. Lol.
At the Japanese army canteen. New friend from the Netherworld.
Leo and a dirty zombie. Keke.
You'll definitely need some perks from their themed drinks stall in the midst of the scare trails too.
Ginormous map of Sentosa Spooktacular 2012~
Saying bye to the familiar faces.
Boooo~ye! :p
Hearts,
ZiweiSandy
